The history of the Rooted building, and of this homestead, is one built of intentionality, fortitude, and gratitude for family working together to build a dream.
I am beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to continue that tradition as the Smith family entrusted me to be the next caretaker of their beloved property. And I honor all who have helped me along the way to bring my dream to fruition. Sometimes we stand as an island of one, and other times true friends, chosen family, and Angels gather around to hold us up and give us strength to step into the future.
It is with this spirit that the Smith family built this building and homestead, by hand, lovingly, intentionally, to nurture and protect their family.
The Rooted building served as a shelter for the family, with four young children, while they worked to finish the main house. They dug deep through the first two exceptionally cold winters and made this building their home. With no insulation or running water, and a sheet metal woodstove for heat. Food and family dinners played an integral part of making it through. It is an honor to continue that tradition in this rustic building that is wrought with so much love and vision.
May we all be so brave and Rooted in our convictions. Surrounded by love.
